Fall Water Main Flushing in Almonte Ward – September 29 to October 31, 2025
The Municipality of Mississippi Mills will be flushing water mains across Almonte Ward from Monday, September 29 to Friday, October 31, 2025, between 7:30 a.m. and 4 p.m. (excluding weekends).
This yearly maintenance program (required under provincial legislation) helps clear out built-up sediment in the pipes to keep your water clean and safe.
What to expect:
While crews are flushing hydrants, you might notice lower water pressure from time to time but don’t worry, it will return to normal once the work is done.
- If your tap water looks reddish or discoloured, turn off your tap for 20-30 minutes to give crews time to finish up. Once they’ve moved on, run one COLD water tap for a few minutes to help flush the system.
- Discoloured water can show up near the flushing site or even several blocks (or kilometres) away, depending on things like pipe size, location and water flow. Unfortunately, it’s difficult to predict the location and number of customers that may experience discoloured water.
- Residents who live in the areas being flushed might want to fill containers with clean water each morning for drinking and cooking.
- Please don’t drink or do laundry with red water.
Thanks for your patience while we keep things flowing smoothly!
