Council Highlights – October 7, 2025
The meeting opened with a delegation from Mississippi Valley Conservation Authority (MVCA) General Manager Sally McIntyre and Board Chair Roy Huetl. They spoke about the MVCA’s proposed draft transition plan for the Mill of Kintail Museum. View the presentation.
A public meeting was held on the Affordable Housing Community Improvement Plan (CIP). Identified through the Housing Accelerator Fund, the Affordable Housing CIP implements programs with a focus on encouraging the development of affordable housing. Council will discuss this matter at a future meeting.
Council received the work plan for the Long Term Financial Plan. The work plan speaks to recommendations made by consultants KPMG, including adding and updating financial policies, bringing forward life-cycle costing, and consideration of a capital levy. The goal is to work on these recommendations during this term of Council.
Council approved draft plan of subdivision conditions for the Brown Lands and Hannan Hills subdivisions. The Brown Lands development proposes 246 units of single, semi-detached and townhomes. The Hannan Hills subdivision plans a range of 166 townhomes.
Council passed a by-law to install a stop sign at the intersection of Malcolm Street and Hope Street in Almonte to support traffic calming.
Committee of the Whole also heard the following items, which will be brought forward for approval at a future Council meeting:
- Recommendation for purchase of 2025 Freightliner plow truck.
- Approval of annual funding grant for Mississippi Mills Youth Centre.
- Consideration of Mississippi Valley Conservation Authority’s proposed options for Mill of Kintail Museum.
- Quarterly reports for Clerks Department and Childcare Services.
