At the last Council meeting of 2025, Council approved the 2026–2030 Accessibility Plan, which was recommended by the Mississippi Mills Accessibility Advisory Committee. This plan explains what the Municipality has already done and plans to take to follow the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA). It also shows how the Municipality is working to meet the needs of our community in areas like customer service, information and communication, jobs, transportation and public spaces. The plan can be viewed here and will be available on the municipal website.

Council adopted Official Plan Amendment (OPA) 35. This amendment makes it possible for Mississippi Mills to consider using a community planning permit system in the future. This permit system is another way for municipalities to review and approve new development, merging zoning and site plan requirements into one process. Though not in place yet, if adopted later, it would replace the current zoning by-law. OPA 35 is the final of seven projects connected to funding the Municipality received through the Housing Accelerator Fund.

Committee of the Whole also heard the following items, which will be brought forward for approval at a future Council meeting:

Upcoming Meetings:

  • Hybrid Council Meeting – Tuesday, January 13, 2026, 6 p.m. Committee of the Whole meeting to follow Council.
  • Hybrid Council Meeting – Tuesday, January 27, 2026, 6 p.m. Committee of the Whole meeting to follow Council.
