Carebridge Community Support Shines Spotlight on Local Seniors with Celebrating Seniors Event
Press Release – Carebridge Community Support
Carebridge Community Support hosted its Celebrating Seniors event on October 1 at the Stan Mills Centre in Almonte, marking both National Seniors Day and Carebridge’s 50th anniversary.
The afternoon brought together seniors, caregivers, community leaders, and residents from across Lanark County for a short community walk, a welcoming reception, and the premiere of a new commemorative film produced in partnership with The Mainspring Agency.
The film, which drew laughter, reflection, and a few tears, celebrates the voices and stories of local seniors while also acknowledging the challenges many face—limited mobility, access to services in rural areas, and the growing issue of loneliness. It premiered at the event and is now available to watch on Carebridge’s YouTube channel.
“This event wasn’t just about celebrating our seniors — it was about listening to them, valuing their voices, and reaffirming our promise to stand alongside them in every step of aging with dignity,” said Robert Eves, CEO of Carebridge Community Support. “Without the ongoing support of the Municipality of Mississippi Mills, the Ontario Ministry of Seniors and Accessibility, and Ontario Health, we couldn’t do what we do.”
Remembering Linda Berg
Carebridge was deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Linda Berg, one of the inspiring seniors featured in the film. A long-time volunteer, Linda believed in the power of movement, friendship, and social connection to keep seniors strong in body and mind. Her warmth and optimism touched countless lives, and her legacy will continue to inspire Carebridge’s work for years to come.
Carebridge extends heartfelt condolences to her family, friends, and all whose lives she enriched.
Fifty Years of Care and Connection
Founded in 1975 as the Almonte Community Builders, Carebridge has grown from a grassroots initiative into a leading provider of seniors’ services, affordable housing, and developmental supports across Lanark County. Through its Seniors Services, Carebridge helps older adults stay active, connected, and independent — offering meal delivery, transportation, wellness activities, and supportive housing.
“For 50 years, Carebridge has been a partner in building stronger, caring communities” said Violet Bova, Community Development Coordinator. “Celebrating our seniors is at the heart of that mission.”
Looking Ahead
As Carebridge looks to the future, it remains committed to strengthening community-based supports for seniors through collaboration, innovation, and inclusion. With the continued partnership of municipal and provincial agencies, Carebridge will keep finding new ways to enhance housing, wellness, and outreach initiatives so that every senior in Lanark County can thrive—at home and in their community.
