Spring Watermain Flushing – May 4 to June 4, 2026

The Municipality of Mississippi Mills will begin its spring watermain flushing program in all areas of Almonte Ward from Monday, May 4 to Thursday, June 4, 2026, between 7:30 a.m. and 4 p.m. (weekdays only).
This required maintenance helps remove naturally occurring sediment from the watermains and ensures high water quality throughout the distribution system. During this period, residents may experience temporary changes in water service.
What to expect
- Reduced water pressure may occur intermittently while hydrants are being flushed. Pressure will return to normal once crews have completed work in your area.
- Discoloured (red) water may appear during or shortly after flushing.
- If this happens, turn off your tap for 20–30 minutes to allow crews to finish.
- Once they have left the area, run a cold water tap for a few minutes to clear your line.
- Discoloured water can occur near or far from the flushing location due to variations in watermain size, flow, and demand. It is not possible to predict exactly where this may occur.
- Residents in affected areas may wish to set aside drinking and cooking water each morning before flushing begins.
- Please avoid drinking or doing laundry with discoloured water.
We appreciate your patience as this important work is completed. For more information, please contact the Roads and Public Works Department at 613‑256‑2064.
