Environment Canada has issued a special weather statement for heavy rain and thunderstorms today.

Rainfall amounts of 30-40 mm are expected, along with a risk of severe thunderstorms this morning through early this afternoon.

Showers continue as a strong low pressure system approaches the area. There is a potential for severe thunderstorms late this morning or early this afternoon with heavy rain and strong wind gusts being the primary threats. Rainfall amounts of 40 mm or greater are possible because of the showers and thunderstorms with this system.
