Special Weather Statement – Heavy Rainfall – July 28, 2026

Environment Canada issued a special weather statement this morning for heavy rainfall for the region.
Locally, the area could see total rainfall amounts of 50 to 100 mm through to Wednesday morning.
Multiple showers and thunderstorms are expected for some areas.
Rainfall warnings may be issued for some regions as forecasts are updated.
Stay safe on the roads
- Slow down and turn on your headlights during periods of heavy rain.
- Watch for standing water and avoid low-lying areas where flooding may occur.
- Allow extra space between vehicles and leave yourself more time to stop.
- Never drive or walk through floodwaters.
Protect your property
- Clear leaves and debris from gutters, downspouts, storm drains and catch basins.
- Check that your sump pump is functioning properly.
- Move valuables from basement floors and other areas vulnerable to water damage.
Secure outdoor furniture, garbage bins and other loose items.
