Southeast Public Health – Notice of Infection Prevention and Control Lapse at Carleton Place Nail Salon

Press Release – Southeast Public Health

Southeast Public Health (SEPH) has identified infection prevention and control concerns at Galleria Nails, Spa and Eyelashes, located at 438 McNeely Avenue in Carleton Place.

Clients who received manicure, pedicure or waxing services between July 4, 2023 and August 12, 2026 may have been exposed to equipment that was not properly cleaned and disinfected. These services are generally low risk for infections when infection prevention and control procedures are followed. However, improperly cleaned and disinfected instruments can potentially lead to transmission of blood-borne infections such as hepatitis B, hepatitis C and to a lesser extent, HIV. At this time, no blood-borne infection has been linked to this location.

Galleria Nails, Spa and Eyelashes has taken immediate corrective measures and now meets the required infection prevention and control standards necessary to operate safely.

While the risk of blood-borne infection is assessed to be low, Southeast Public Health recommends that clients who received these services between July 4, 2023 and August 12 2026, consult a health-care provider to discuss their personal risk and, if deemed appropriate, be tested for hepatitis B, hepatitis C and HIV.

Additional information, including the IPAC Lapse Report, and answers to frequently asked questions, can be found on our website.
