Public Notice – Old Almonte Road Reconstruction Project to Begin This Week

The Old Almonte Road reconstruction project (from southeast of Jack Dalgity Street to Appleton Side Road) will get underway this week, bringing significant upgrades to the roadway and supporting future growth in the area.
The contract for the work was awarded by Council in June to Thomas Cavanagh Construction Limited in the amount of $1,085,446.50. The project is supported through provincial funding, with 50 per cent of the project funding provided by the Government of Ontario.
Vegetation clearing will take place first this week, followed by the start of road construction next week.
Project improvements
Project works include:
- Upgrading the roadway from a gravel surface to asphalt
- Widening the existing roadway
- Replacing and upgrading culverts as required
- Adding paved shoulders to improve safety and functionality for all road users
Residents in the surrounding area have been notified in advance of the upcoming work.
Old Almonte Road was identified in the 2024 Mississippi Mills Transportation Master Plan as an important route in an area expected to grow in the future. These improvements will help support future development, improve road safety and create better connections for all road users.
Construction is anticipated to be completed this fall.
The Municipality thanks residents for their patience and cooperation while this important infrastructure project is underway.
