Illumination Request – National Drowning Prevention Day

Water ripples in a blue-bottomed pool. A white box with blue border contains black text reading 'Illumination Request - National Drowning Prevention Day.'

The Municipality of Mississippi Mills recognizes Drowning Prevention Day on July 25 and encourages all residents and visitors to make water safety a priority this summer.

With our many lakes, rivers, pools and waterfront activities, it’s important to remember that drowning is preventable. Always supervise children around water, wear a properly fitted lifejacket, avoid swimming alone and be prepared for changing water conditions.

To mark the day, the Almonte Old Town Hall and the falls will be illuminated in blue.
