Five Span Bridge Project Update – Bridge Closures Start Monday, August 11

Bridge closures related to the Five Span Bridge rehabilitation project in Pakenham will begin Monday, August 11, according to Lanark County.

Road closure schedule

Bridge closures will be in effect until work is completed in October 2025. The road closure schedule is as follows:

  • Monday – Thursday: Half-hour before sunrise to half-hour before sunset
  • Friday: Half-hour before sunrise to noon

The bridge will remain open overnight and on weekends and holidays.

Detour information

A detour route with directional signage will be displayed while the bridge closures are in place. Digital message boards will also notify the public when closures are in effect.

Planned detour route: Galetta Side Road, Upper Dwyer Hill Road and Kinburn Side Road.

About the project

KB Civil Constructors Inc. has been contracted by Lanark County for the project. Work for 2025 is focused on the substructure and includes:

  • Removal and repouring of existing concrete pier jackets
  • Repointing masonry joints on bridge piers

The historic Five Span Bridge was built in 1901.
