Fire Ban Update – Burn Risk Status Lowered to Level 3 (High Risk)
Recent rainfall has allowed the Mississippi Mills Fire Department to ease the total fire ban to Level 3 – High Risk as of August 28, 2025.
Drier ground conditions mean the risk of fire spread remains high.
Open-air burning is permitted, but please use extreme caution:
- Fires can spread quickly and unintentionally
- Always have extinguishing agents (water, sand, fire extinguisher) on hand
- Never leave a fire unattended
Reminder:
Residents must have an activated burn permit before burning. Residents in eligible areas must obtain a free permit online at mm.burnpermits.com, or in person at the Municipal Office or Station 1 (Almonte) during business hours.
