Community Connect and Pakenham Addresses: A Quick Clarification

We've received a few questions from residents regarding Community Connect and reports that some Pakenham addresses may experience issues during registration.

At this time, the issue appears to be related to address or postal code information within a third-party mapping database and does not affect all Pakenham addresses. Unfortunately, the Mississippi Mills Fire Department and the Municipality do not have the ability to correct or modify third-party mapping systems.

Most importantly, residents should know that a postal code issue will not prevent emergency responders from locating your address during an emergency. Mississippi Mills firefighters live and work throughout our community, know the roads, neighbourhoods, and rural routes well, and are dispatched using multiple sources of information. Our crews respond based on your address and local knowledge, not solely on a postal code entered into Community Connect.

Community Connect remains a valuable emergency preparedness tool that allows residents to voluntarily share information that can help first responders when every second counts, including:

• Young children, seniors, or occupants with mobility considerations
• Medical equipment dependencies
• Property hazards such as propane tanks, gates, or access concerns
• Pets and livestock on the property

The information you provide is securely stored and only accessible to emergency personnel when responding to an incident at your address.
