Effective June 4, Mississippi Mills Fire Department (MMFD) has raised the burn risk to Level 4 (Extreme Risk – Supervised Campfires Only) due to current dry conditions.

The Ministry of Natural Resources' forest fire danger rating for our region is also elevated.

Under this level, residents are only permitted to have supervised campfires. Have extinguishing agents immediately available.

An active 2026 burn permit is required before any open air burning.

Visit https://mm.burnpermits.com/ to obtain your free permit or call 613-256-2064 option 7. Permit holders must call the burn permit line (613-706-4004) to activate their permit prior to each burn.

Reminder: Brush, drum, and windrow fires not permitted between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. (April 1 – October 31).

For more information, visit the MMFD webpage, call 613-256-2064 option 7, or email fireadmin@mississippimills.ca.
