2027-2028 Ontario Seniors Community Grant Program Applications Now Open

Press Release – Minister of Seniors and Accessibility

As part of its plan to protect Ontario and help seniors stay healthy, active and connected in their communities, the province is opening applications for the next intake of the Seniors Community Grant Program (SCG). These grants support local, not-for-profit community groups, municipalities, Indigenous governing bodies and organizations to deliver a suite of programs designed to help seniors increase independence, reduce social isolation and create positive connections.

“Strong communities are places where seniors can stay connected, engaged and supported,” said Raymond Cho, Minister for Seniors and Accessibility. “The Seniors Community Grant Program helps seniors stay active and independent while creating more opportunities for seniors and veterans to connect with their communities.”

SCG recipients can receive up to $25,000 to support local programs, services and events to provide seniors with opportunities for greater social inclusion, volunteerism and community engagement. This year’s investment includes an additional $1 million, specifically for programs dedicated to improving the quality of life for senior veterans.

Examples of active projects include:

  • Cooking workshops that promote healthy eating, social connection and community inclusion
  • Education and resources to prevent fraud and scams, enhance safety and promote financial, physical and mental well-being
  • Programs to strengthen digital literacy among adults aged 55+ and their caregivers
  • Intergenerational games nights to foster connections between older adults, younger adults and youth

Applications for 2027-28 are open now until December 17, 2026. Community organizations interested in applying can visit Ontario.ca/getfunding for more information.

The ministry is also hosting webinars for interested applicants, providing information and guidance on completing and submitting the application form.

Today’s investment builds on Ontario’s efforts to help seniors stay healthy, active and connected, including expanding Seniors Active Living Centres (SALCs) to more than 400 locations across the province. These centres provide local programs and activities that promote wellness, reduce social isolation and help seniors remain independent and engaged in their communities.
