2026 Community Awards Spotlight – Exceptional Volunteer Allan Goddard

Volunteers contribute to the vibrancy, diversity and strength of our community. This award is presented annually to exceptional volunteers whose contributions have made a meaningful and lasting difference in Mississippi Mills.

For more than 30 years, Allan ran Almonte Landscaping — but even after closing his business, his commitment to beautifying Mississippi Mills never stopped. He continues to generously share his expertise with the Municipality, advising on tree planting, species selection, and ideal locations. He also collects and distributes native trees and plants throughout the community, ensuring our natural spaces remain healthy and vibrant.

Allan maintains several public gardens around Almonte and plays an essential role in the Almonte Alameda project, working alongside a dedicated team of volunteers to water, fertilize, and care for nearly 100 young trees. He is also an active member of the Almonte & District Horticultural Society, frequently serving on the board, supporting plant sales, and sharing his knowledge as a guest speaker. His involvement with the Mississippi Valley Field Naturalists further reflects his deep love for the natural world.

Allan’s commitment shines through in the way he quietly steps in wherever he’s needed — sharing his skills, his time, and his passion for the landscapes that make Mississippi Mills so special.
