The Festival of the Wild Child – Mississippi Madawaska Land Trust’s (MMLT) most popular event – is back!

Join us on Saturday, August 23 (with a rain date of Sunday, August 24) at High Lonesome Nature Reserve in Pakenham (867 Carbine Road) for a day of wonder, adventure, and discovery in nature.

This year’s theme, “See Nature Differently,” invites children and their families to explore the natural world through fresh eyes — whether that’s as an artist, a biologist, a beaver, or simply as a curious kid. Nature means something different to everyone, and there are countless ways to experience and care for it. We’re here to celebrate them all!

Expect a mix of returning favourites — like the Storybook Tent, Magical Fairies, and Pond Life — along with some exciting new activities in the works. As always, local experts will be on hand to guide you along the trails and lead hands-on experiences that spark curiosity and joy. A full schedule of activities will be available soon.

The Festival of the Wild Child is free for children or youth under 16 and $10 for adults, 16+. Get your tickets at www.mmlt.ca/events.

Please note that there’s parking on site and we will have food and cold drinks for sale. Please leave your pets at home – the wildlife will thank you!

Visit our online shop (www.mmlt.ca/shop) to pre-order a Wild Child T-shirt for your little hiker(s). We’ll have it ready for you when you arrive at the festival. Order before noon on August 22.
