Public Open House – Almonte Public Realm Plan, Almonte Downtown Secondary Plan, Affordable Housing Community Improvement Plan – October 29, 2025

The Municipality of Mississippi Mills invites residents to review and provide input on three exciting draft initiatives that will help shape the future of our community during a Public Open House Wednesday, October 29 from 2 to 8 p.m. at the Almonte Old Town Hall Auditorium (14 Bridge Street).

Almonte Public Realm Plan

This plan focuses on enhancing the commercial areas of Downtown Almonte and Ottawa Street. It outlines a long-term strategy for public spaces, including policies for public art and ongoing maintenance.

Almonte Downtown Secondary Plan

Developed by consulting firm Parsons, this plan provides a framework to guide growth while preserving the unique character of downtown Almonte. It covers:

• Public realm

Affordable Housing Community Improvement Plan (CIP)

Prepared by J.L. Richards & Associates, this plan supports the development of affordable housing units by providing financial incentives for eligible developments that include affordable housing. It’s one of seven initiatives of the Municipality’s Housing Accelerator Fund agreement through the Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation.

Proposed programs include:

• Tax Increment Equivalent Rebate (TIER)
• Development Charge Rebate
• Affordable Additional Residential Unit Rebate
• Required Plans and Studies Rebate
• Municipal Incentive Rebate
