Mississippi River Health Alliance welcomes more than $2.8 million through Ontario’s Health Infrastructure Renewal Fund

Press Release - Mississippi River Health Alliance

The Mississippi River Health Alliance (MRHA) is pleased to announce that Almonte General Hospital (AGH) and Carleton Place & District Memorial Hospital (CPDMH) have received a combined $2.8 million in funding through the Ontario government’s Health Infrastructure Renewal Fund (HIRF) 2025-26.

This investment will support essential upgrades that help keep hospital facilities safe, reliable, and welcoming for patients, families, and staff. AGH will receive $864,431, including one-time funding to address priority projects, while CPDMH will receive $1,958,862, with the majority dedicated to improving fire safety through new sprinkler systems and other critical upgrades.

“We are grateful for this investment in our hospitals,” said Brad Harrington, President & CEO of the Mississippi River Health Alliance. “These funds allow us to move forward with infrastructure projects that are essential to maintaining safe, modern, and reliable facilities for our patients, staff, medical staff, and community members.”

The HIRF program provides hospitals across Ontario with resources to tackle high-priority infrastructure needs such as fire safety systems, roofs, windows, and mechanical upgrades. Projects are identified through the province’s Facility Condition Assessment Program and ensure hospitals remain safe, efficient, and sustainable for years to come.

“This funding means our teams can continue focusing on what matters most – delivering high-quality, compassionate care – while knowing the physical spaces around us are safe, reliable, and able to meet the needs of our communities today and into the future,” said James Hildebrand, Vice President, Capital Development & Support Services, MRHA.

Work is already underway at both hospitals to set priorities and mobilize resources, with a focus on completing projects efficiently and minimizing any disruption to patients, staff, and visitors.

With this new investment, MRHA can address immediate infrastructure needs while also planning for the future. By keeping facilities strong, safe, and reliable, these projects will support patients and families, strengthen the work environment for staff and medical teams, and help sustain high-quality healthcare close to home.
