Notice of Public Meeting – Lanark County Official Plan Amendments 16, 17 and 18 – February 18, 2026

The County of Lanark has commenced three amendments to its Official Plan and is consulting and holding a public meeting to gain public and stakeholder feedback on the proposed amendments.
The public meeting provides interested parties with the opportunity to submit formal comments and feedback to Lanark County Council regarding the proposed amendment. You may attend the public meeting and provide your comments orally, and/or you may submit your comments in writing to the Planning Manager at the email below.
Written comments provided before February 11, 2026 will be included in the public meeting agenda/record. Written comments received after February 11, 2026 will form part of the public record and will be considered as a part of the review and decision-making process.
Purpose and Effect of the Official Plan Amendments
The amendments apply to all lands in Lanark County. The purpose and effect of the Official Plan Amendments (OPA) are as follows:
- OPA 16 – Affordable Housing. The amendment implements the findings and recommendations of the Lanark County & Town of Smiths Falls Municipal Tools to Support Affordable Housing (2022). It includes policy wording amendments.
- OPA 17 – Growth Management. The amendment implements the findings and recommendations of the Lanark County Growth Management Strategy (2025). It includes policy wording and appendix amendments.
- OPA 18 – Aggregate Resources. The amendment implements the findings and recommendations of the Lanark County Aggregate Resources Master Plan (2025). It includes policy wording and mapping schedule amendments. Date and Location of the Public Meeting
The public meeting will be held at 5 p.m. on February 18, 2026 at the Lanark County Administrative Building, Council Chambers, 99 Christie Lake Road, Perth.
Notice of Decision
If you wish to be notified of the decision of Lanark County on the proposed Official Plan Amendments, you must make a written request to the Planning Manager at the contact provided below.
Appeal Rights
If a person or public body would otherwise have an ability to appeal the decision of Lanark County to the Ontario Land Tribunal but the person or public body does not make oral submissions at a public meeting or make written submissions to the Planning Manager before the proposed official plan amendment is adopted, the person or public body is not entitled to appeal the decision.
If a person or public body does not make oral submissions at a public meeting or make written submissions to Lanark County before the proposed official plan amendment is adopted, the person or public body may not be added as a party to the hearing of an appeal before the Ontario Land Tribunal unless, in the opinion of the Tribunal, there are reasonable grounds to add the person or public body as a party.

These amendments apply to all lands within Lanark County. Various Planning Act applications are ongoing throughout the County. Please check County and local municipal websites for listings of open applications.
