Municipal Office Closures – March 11, 2026

Due to the significant freezing rain forecast, the Municipality of Mississippi Mills will close the following facilities on Wednesday, March 11:

• Mississippi Mills Municipal Office
• Almonte Old Town Hall
• Mississippi Mills Childcare Services
• John Levi Community Centre
• Stewart Community Centre

The Almonte and Pakenham branches of the Mississippi Mills Public Library will also be closed.

Environment Canada has issued an orange freezing rain warning, indicating severe weather with the potential for widespread damage and prolonged impacts.

A long period of freezing rain—possibly up to 24 hours in some areas—is expected to begin tonight or overnight and continue into Wednesday evening. Ice buildup of 10–20 mm is anticipated.

Prolonged power outages are likely, along with potential damage to buildings, trees, and other property.

Freezing rain can quickly create dangerous roads, falling branches, and unstable ice near waterways. Please take precautions:

• Avoid unnecessary travel; if you must drive, adjust to the conditions
• Stay off frozen creeks, rivers, and ponds
• Watch for low‑hanging branches and wires
• Have a plan in case of a power outage

• Charge your devices
• Ensure sump pumps are working properly
• If possible, have a portable generator and backup pump ready
