Municipal Cooling Centres Available During Multi-Day Heat Event
Environment Canada has the region under a multi-day heat event that is expected to continue into Tuesday evening or Wednesday.
This heat event will bring:
- Daytime highs of 32-35 degrees Celsius, with humidex values of 37 to 42
- Overnight lows of 20 to 23 degrees Celsius
A cooler air mass is expected to arrive Tuesday evening but there is a possibility hot and humid conditions could continue in eastern Ontario into Wednesday.

- Close blinds or shades and open windows if outside is cooler than inside
- Turn on air conditioning, use a fan to move to a cooler area of your home
- If your home is hot, move to a public cooling centre
- Plan and schedule outdoor activities during the coolest parts of the day
- Limit exposure to direct sun and heat – wear lightweight, light-coloured, loose-fitting clothing and wide-brimmed hat
