Heritage Week - "Did You Know?" - Heritage Grants - February 19, 2026

Heritage Week is a time to celebrate the places that shape our community and the programs that help protect these important assets.

The Municipality offers financial incentive programs to support the conservation of heritage properties that are individually designated or are within the Downtown Almonte Heritage Conservation District.

  • Heritage Building Restoration Grant Program
This program helps property owners cover the costs of maintaining and restoring historic features of heritage buildings. The goal is to encourage good stewardship of heritage resources.

  • Heritage Tax Refund Program
Eligible owners of designated heritage properties that have a Heritage Conservation Agreement or Heritage Easement Agreement with the Municipality, may apply for a partial refund of municipal property taxes after completing approved conservation work. This program recognizes the long-term investment made by property owners in protecting heritage resources.

Together, these programs support conservation while helping offset the costs associated with owning and maintaining a heritage property.

Learn more about eligibility, application requirements, and program details, on the Municipality’s Heritage page.

This Heritage Week, we thank the residents, property owners, and volunteers who help preserve Mississippi Mills’ history, today and for generations to come.
