Elections
The next municipal election is around the corner!
Ontario’s municipal elections are set for October 26, 2026.
In Ontario, municipal elections are held every four years on the fourth Monday of October. Representatives are elected through the first-past-the-post system, meaning voters each choose one candidate for a position, and the candidate with the most votes is elected.
In Mississippi Mills, voters elect representatives by ward (two in Almonte Ward, two in Ramsay Ward, and one in Pakenham Ward), as well as one representative each for mayor and deputy mayor.
An election will not occur if all positions on council are acclaimed (no one decided to run against the incumbents).
Residents of Mississippi Mills (lower-tier municipality) will not directly be voting for representatives on the Lanark County (upper-tier municipality) council. Instead, the County's council will be composed of two elected members from the lower-tier municipalities of Lanark County—often the mayor and deputy mayor of the municipality. The County council will then elect among themselves a warden to represent the County.

Online E-Voting
Mississippi Mills has used online electronic voting since 2010. During the election period, voters can go online, call in, or visit a voter help centre to cast their secure vote. Registered voters will get a Voter Information Card in the mail with a unique PIN required to submit your vote.
