Renewal of Downtown Core – Community Update # 1
Downtown Almonte renewal construction to begin spring 2022
Potential advanced construction/road closures to be scheduled for three weeks.
Mississippi Mills Council has approved the Almonte downtown core renewal project with work scheduled to begin in spring 2022. Preparing for this project requires changes to the Enbridge gas main on Mill Street between Bridge Street and Brae Street (see attached map). Originally, Enbridge requested that the Municipality allow them to make these changes this Fall. Enbridge estimated the work will be complete within 2 to 3 weeks starting late October and finishing by mid-November.
However recently, Enbridge has requested a change in schedule and would like to complete this work either late fall (2021) or Spring (2022).
A report will be presented to Municipal Council Tuesday October 19th for final approval of the timeline. Staff will be recommending to Council that this work be completed in 2022 prior to the spring construction.
If Council approves this request, an official notice with dates and detour information will be provided to the affected businesses and residents in the downtown core and will be posted on the Municipal website.
