Fire Department

The Mississippi Mills Fire Department (MMFD) has changed the burning status to a Partial Burn Ban.  The Partial Burn Ban will permit campfires in the Municipality in areas that are permitted to burn.  Almonte and Pakenham residents remain in a restricted burn area.

NOTE:  The Partial Burn Ban continues to restrict the use of burn barrels and the burning of brush piles and yard waste.

The Burn Permit system will notify users that only campfires are permitted during the partial burn ban.  Permits may be issued for other types of burning due to system limitations.  All non-campfire burning will be strictly enforced during the Partial Burn Ban.

Cooking devices that are designed to cook food with wood pellets or charcoal, such as smokers or grills, are permitted for use.  Any cooking devices, outdoor fireplaces and fuel fired appliances that use propane or natural gas are also exempt from any burn ban.

The fire department would like to thank all residents for their patience during these unprecedented times. We continue to balance the safety of our staff with an appropriate level of fire risk. We understand the frustration everyone is experiencing because of the pandemic and hope that by moving to a Partial Fire Ban, residents can enjoy a supervised campfire in Mississippi Mills.
