The Corporation of the Municipality of Mississippi Mills is seeking to fill two (2) positions on the Board of Directors of Mississippi River Power Corporation. Mississippi River Power Corp. (MRPC) is incorporated under the Ontario Business Corporations Act and is licensed by the Ontario Energy Board to generate electricity. MRPC owns and operates the 4.6 Megawatt hydroelectric generating station built in 2010, situated on the lower falls of the Mississippi River in Almonte, Ontario. Average annual revenues are in excess of $2.5M. The Corporation employs three full time and one part time staff and is governed by a five-member Board of Directors, including one (1) Municipal Council representative.


At a minimum, members are required to prepare for and attend a monthly meeting of the Board, any special meetings as required, and an annual general meeting. An annual stipend is provided to members.


Preference will be given to applicants with some of the following:

  • strong business background;

  • strong financial background;

  • legal/accounting/tax acumen;

  • utility and/or hydro generation experience;

  • strategic planning and corporate stewardship experience;

  • experience with government regulation;

  • experience in competitive business environment;

  • sensitivity to public interest;

  • Board of Directors experience.

 

Please note, the Directors' qualifications and experience will be subject to scrutiny by organizations when assessing risks associated with the performance of the Corporation.
