Five Arches Bridge closure slated for Aug. 10 and 11

Lanark County has retained WSP for Engineering services to conduct a detailed enhanced investigation of the historic Five Arches Bridge in Pakenham and to complete the detail design of the selected rehabilitation strategy.

As part of the enhanced investigation, a full bridge closure will be required to accommodate a bridge deck condition survey on Aug. 10 and 11, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day.

A second bridge closure will be required in September to support a masonry inspection.

A detour will be in place on County Road 20 (Kinburn Side Road); Regional Road 3 (Upper Dwyer Hill Road); and Regional Road 22 (Galetta Side Road).

“We thank motorists for their patience as we conduct this important work to protect this Lanark County landmark,” said Sean Derouin, public works manager.
