A new Lottery License Protocol was accepted by Council on Tuesday night to revise the Municipality's licencing procedures. The Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario (AGCO) establishes clear and strict rules for municipalities to issue licences to eligible and charitable organizations.  Previously the Municipality charged an upfront lottery licence fee of 3% based on expected winnings. Progressive or complex lotteries such as Catch the Ace will now be able to pay their 3% licence fee on a monthly basis based on their monthly reports. Eligible organizations will also be able to have 2 open lottery licences for raffle, bingo or progressive lotteries and 1 breakopen/Nevada licence open at the same time.

With the number of residents working or educating children from home due to COVID-19, Council has asked staff to investigate if residents require additional services beyond what is currently provided by the Mississippi Mills Public Library. The libraries have many free options available at both branches including high-speed internet, computers, scanners, printers, laptop tables, charging stations, Zoom room for online meetings, small study rooms, and one-on-one tech tutoring, along with many other great activities for adults and kids alike. Check out their website at www.missmillslibrary.com. For questions, suggestions or more information please contact Chief Librarian Christine Row, crow@mississippimills.ca or Tiffany MacLaren, Community Economic & Cultural Coordinator, at tmaclaren@mississippimills.ca.
