Celebrate Almonte’s Past and Present
HAPPENING THIS WEEKEND!!!!
The Almonte Bicentennial Working Group is pleased to announce that its first major Bicentennial event is set for March 25th. “Celebrate Almonte” takes you on a journey through town, tests your local knowledge and offers the opportunity to win some amazing prizes!
This free family friendly event runs from 11:00 am to 3:00 pm and features “destination points.” At these locations, passports will be distributed which include a map of Almonte and trivia questions which can be answered to win some amazing prizes from local shops. Be sure to visit all of the locations to fully experience the event! The four destination points include:
- Mississippi Mills Library (Almonte branch)
- Community art project
- James Naismith puppet
- Past and present photos of Almonte
- Heritage Mall
- Face painting and activities provided by the Mississippi Mills Youth Centre
- R. Tait McKenzie puppet
- Levi Home Hardware
- Live entertainment featuring Cal Cummings & Friends and Denny & Travis Strong
- Memorabilia showcasing Almonte’s past
- Legion (Almonte branch)
- Lunch – Enjoy a bowl of chili! Donations appreciated but not required
- Live entertainment featuring Lauren Hall
“Community volunteers have done a brilliant job planning what is sure to be a fun Saturday celebrating Almonte – whether you’re 4 or 94!” said Mayor Christa Lowry. “The Bicentennial brings together all corners of Mississippi Mills and I encourage everyone to participate in the fantastic activities and events planned for 2023.Help make this year one for the history books!”
