A fire at the Lanark County Paramedic Service’s Almonte ambulance base has been contained and will not affect ambulance service in the region.

At approximately 7 am this morning, ambulance crew members detected smoke in the building. The shift crew was able to evacuate the building and remove vehicles and the fire was contained quickly.

There are no injuries. The cause of the fire is being investigated.

Ambulance operations will not be affected. Some crew members will be housed and deployed out of the Carleton Place ambulance base. Other ambulances will remain mobile in the Almonte area.

“Thank you to our LCPS paramedics and our partners with the Mississippi Mills Fire Department for your quick action and support,” notes Mary Wilson Trider, President and CEO.
