Mississippi Mills recognizes the value of building an inclusive, welcoming, and fun community.  Knowing your neighbours helps increase quality of life and decrease crime. Annually the Recreation and Culture Department awards Neighbourhood Micro Grants of up to $150 to community members planning activities for their neighbourhood. $3000 is available for community microgrants in 2022.

This program helps build community and strengthen connections right where people live - in their neighbourhoods. The  goal is to connect and engage neighbourhood residents of all ages and abilities. This funding is available for residents to develop projects that meet the needs of their neighbourhood or the greater community. Examples: Block parties to introduce new neighbours, weekly neighbourhood clean-up work parties, a birthday party for the oldest person on your street, spruce up a neighbourhood garden, offer free yoga in the park... the possibilities are endless!

To be considered applicants send an email with clear and sufficient information to the Recreation and Culture Department at recandculturedept@mississippimills.ca. See policy and details at the link below to ensure you include all required information.

The initial application deadline was June 10, 2022, but we still have funds remaining. Micro grants will continue to be awarded on a case by case basis until the fund runs out for 2022.
