Ward Almonte

I was born and raised in Almonte and graduated from Almonte High School. I was always heavily involved in sports in the area, both participating and organizing. My family was well known in the area, my Mother worked for the local Almonte Gazette and my Father was a Municipal Councillor for almost 30 years. I moved to Vancouver Island in the early 1990’s, raised four children, Jasmine, Jessica, Jake & Jordyn and move back to the area with them in the mid 2000’s. I have always been amazed of the small town friendly yet competitive atmosphere here in Mississippi Mills, you know so many people personally and the people seem to rise to the top at whatever it is they are doing whether it be sports or other activities.

I have obtained a wide range of life experience, I have been self employed most of my life involved in building construction, demolition and renovations to forest industry from roads to heavy equipment. I am a Certified Oracle Database Administrator with several Microsoft certifications as well. I became involved creating online software with Veterans care facilities across Canada and Veterans Affairs Canada. I assisted in creating the current Public Health of British Columbia and worked with several Provincial Public Heath organizations across Canada as well as the BC Ministry of Health. I also assisted in the creation of Prevention of Violence Canada to foster national action to prevent violence guided by a strategic plan for Canada. Currently I have several online database driven software for several organizations across Canada and I have been heavily involved with sports equipment manufacturing and distribution throughout Canada in soccer, baseball, football, broomball and curling.

Currently as a Councillor, I sit on the Parks and Rec Advisory Committee, the Joint Cost Sharing Recreation Committee and the Community Policing Advisory Committee (CPAC). Outside of Municipal Council, I am still involved with the sport of Broomball both nationally with Broomball Canada and internationally with the International Federation of Broomball Associations and I continue to be an avid Volunteer with the Canadian Legion.

I enjoy being involved in our community, I currently spend several hours a day on Council related activities and will continue to do so.
