Roads, Parking and Traffic

The business of achieving and maintaining the highest standards around the maintenance of our road, bridge, sidewalk and drainage infrastructure is always changing and advancing.

Given the heavy burden our infrastructure carries, as well as its importance in the day-to-day function of our Municipality, we are dedicated to ensuring it's kept in top-notch condition through new training opportunities - as well as cutting-edge technology.

Active Transportation Plan

On January 12th, 2016,  Council took another major step in the advancement of greener and healthier transportation alternatives with the adoption of the Active Transportation Plan by Dillon Consulting.  This milestone marks the conclusion of over 18 months of study and consultation on how the community wants to see walking, cycling, hiking and other non-motorized modes of transportation encouraged within the community.   By developing a strong network of active transportation and programming, the Municipality can make it easier for the people of Mississippi Mills to use active modes for recreation, commuting, running errands and tourism.   Please refer to the attached link to the study for further details.

All Terrain Vehicle By-Law # 13-108

On November 5, 2013, Municipal Council passed By-law #13-108 providing for access to all terrain vehicles on designated rural roads in the Municipality of Mississippi Mills.  This by-law brings forward new options for residents and visitors to explore Mississippi Mills and help support the local rural economy.

ATV owners who wish to access public roads must be aware of the requirements of By-law 13-108 and the Highway Traffic Act to ensure the safe and legal use of our local roads.  Failure to meet these requirements could otherwise result in unwanted fines.

Further questions may be directed to the Roads and Public Works Department by calling 613-256-2064 ext. 258.
