Water Conditions Statement Update #3: Flood Warning — Lower Ottawa River

May 2, 2023 — This FLOOD WARNING statement is an update to the Flood Warning issued for areas along the Lower Ottawa River (Arnprior to Hawkesbury) on April 28th, 2023.

Water levels are expected to rise again within the Ottawa River Basin due to significant rainfall received over the past few days. Runoff from this rain event will bring additional water volumes to the Ottawa River at a time when levels are already near major flood thresholds.

Neighbourhood Micro Grants 2023

The Recreation and Culture Department awards Neighbourhood Micro Grants annually to community members planning activities that benefit their neighbourhood. In celebration of the municipality's bicentennial, up to $200 will be awarded to residents for projects that satisfy the micro grant criteria.

Annual Exchange Day 2023

The Municipality of Mississippi Mills holds an annual Exchange Day during the first weekend of May each year.  This is a day where residents of Mississippi Mills can put items out at the curb they no longer want, and others can take the "treasurers".   Items can be placed on the curb on Friday, May 5th and must be brought back in (if not taken) on Sunday, May 7th. 

Please ensure that no items you do not wish to give away are left near the road.

Significant Rainfall Increases Flows and Raises Lake Levels

May 2, 2023 MISSISSIPPI AND CARP RIVER WATERSHEDS— The Mississippi Valley Conservation Authority is issuing a FLOOD WATCH for Dalhousie Lake and Clyde River.  The Mississippi and Carp River watersheds received significant rainfall over the last three days. As a result, flows and levels have increased significantly. It is expected that levels on Dalhousie Lake will continue to increase over the next two days by another 10 to 15 cm.

Please be advised that County Road 29 in Pakenham at the OVRT overpass is flooded. The road is currently closed and detours are in place.
