Flood Warning Update #4 - Lower Ottawa River

May 10, 2023 — This FLOOD WARNING statement is an update to the Flood Warning issued for areas along the Lower Ottawa River (Arnprior to Hawkesbury) on May 2nd, 2023.

Water levels along the main stem of the Ottawa River reached peak levels on May 5th and 6th due to above normal snow melt in the upper region of the basin this spring, combined with large regional rain events that occurred over several days in late April and early May.

More than 40 firefighters from Mississippi Mills, Drummond/North Elmsley Tay Valley, North Algona, Perth, Rideau Lakes, Russell and South Frontenac recently received grain entrapment rescue training, which will enable them to respond more effectively to emergencies involving grain bins, silos, trailers and buggies. FLOOD WARNING STATEMENT- UPDATE #1

May 9, 2023 MISSISSIPPI AND CARP RIVER WATERSHEDS— The FLOOD WARNING issued by the Mississippi Valley Conservation Authority (MVCA) on May 3rd remains in effect. Water levels have peaked in some areas and flows are beginning to drop. However, water levels and flows will remain high in the upcoming days.

All lakes in the upper watershed have been slowly declining but it will be at least a week before they reach summer target levels.
