 The Emergency Department at Almonte General Hospital (AGH) will close on Saturday, July 15 at 7 p.m. and will reopen at 7 a.m. on Sunday, July 16. 

The Emergency Department at Carleton Place & District Memorial Hospital (CPDMH) will also be closed Friday, July 14 at 3 p.m., reopening at 7 a.m. on Saturday, July 15.

Sections of the Ottawa Valley Recreation Trail (OVRT) will be closed intermittently between July 18 and 21 to allow for resurfacing work.

Public Works Manager Sean Derouin explained Lanark County has retained Arnott Brothers Construction to add new stone dust to the trail surface north of Almonte, from the McPhail Side Road to Ridge Road, and north of Blakeney, from Panmure Road to Needham Side Road.

A new capital grant program has been launched by Lanark County to encourage the construction of more affordable housing units.

The Affordable Housing Capital Grant provides funding in the form of a 15-year forgivable loan and is available to Lanark County property owners, community agencies, non-profit and for-profit residential developers who are planning to build new affordable rental housing units or convert non-residential buildings to new affordable rental housing units.

The Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry has lifted the fire ban status in the Restricted Fire Zone.
