Have Your Say: 2024 Budget Survey Now Live Until August 31

We want to hear from you! Today (August 1), the Municipality launched our 2024 Budget Survey.

Click here to fill out the survey. Paper copies are also available at the Municipal Office, Almonte Old Town Hall and the Almonte and Pakenham branches of the Mississippi Mills Public Library.

Your input is valued. A collaborative approach to development and adoption of the budget will help us consider the priorities and planning that meet the needs of the community in a fiscally responsible manner.

Planning for the 2024 Municipal budget is underway. There are many ways to be involved and stay informed!

Statement on Fire at Almonte Fairgrounds

Over the weekend, a fire destroyed the Municipality’s beach/storage changing hut at the Almonte Fairgrounds.

Thanks to the quick efforts of Mississippi Mills Fire Department, the fire was contained and did not spread further. An investigation has been conducted, and the cause is undetermined. However, it is not believed the fire was started intentionally.

Changes to July 27-28 Road Closures for Downtown Almonte

The finish line is in sight and the last touches are being put on the Downtown Almonte Revitalization Project. Both Thomas Cavanagh Construction Limited and the Municipality of Mississippi Mills have committed to completing the paving of the Downtown Core by July 28, 2023. Weather dependent, we will meet that timeline!

Princess Street Reconstruction Underway

The renewal of Princess Street in Almonte began on Monday, July 24. The nearly $1.5 million project is being undertaken by Thomas Cavanagh Construction Limited and is anticipated to be completed this construction season.

Works include the replacement of watermain, sewers and services to property line, road reconstruction, curbs and sidewalks. The project was identified in the 2018 Water and Wastewater Master Plan and approved in the 2023 Budget.
