Council Members Join OPP 'Bail Out' Fundraiser to Support Food Bank

Mississippi Mills Council launched its Bail Out Fundraiser, in partnership with Lanark County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), at the August 15th Council meeting with a special video.

During summer recess, some of our members of council have gotten themselves into hot water! The OPP has ‘charged’ the following council members:

  • Mayor Christa Lowry for over the limit caffeine consumption

  • Councillor Bev Holmes for always overscheduling herself

  • Councillor Vicki Lowe for being an underaged grandma

Public Notice – By-law – Proposed Name Change Laroque Street to LaRocque Street

During the registration of the Mill Run Subdivision, the spelling of “Laroque” Street, was incorrect.  To honor the veterans whom the street was named after the street will be correctly registered as LaRocque Street.  Comments were solicited from the residents through a previous notice issued December 28, 2022, and comments received were presented to Council.

Please be advised that a by-law to officially change the name of Laroque Street to LaRocque Street will be on the agenda for the September...

Last Chance to Apply for Municipal Reforestation Grant

The final deadline to apply for the Municipal Reforestation Grant Program is August 31!

The grant program is open to forestry-dependent commercial businesses in Mississippi Mills.

Earlier this year, the Municipality of Mississippi Mills was successful in its application for one-time funding offered by the Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry to recoup clean-up costs experienced as a result of the Derecho in May 2022. The Municipality received funds for equipment and reforestation projects.
