Council Highlights of April 20, 2009 Meeting

Here are the highlights of the Council meeting held on April 20, 2009:

Council passed a resolution supporting the People First of Lanark County Day on June 20, 2009.

Council approved the new Community & Economic Development Grants Policy for organizations seeking financial assistance for marketing or advertising plans for tours, groups or festivals or for brochure development.

Council accepted the following tenders/quotes:

- Oakes Truck Sales to supply one tandem truck with a combination sander/dump body at the tender price of $213,164.27
- $84,800.00 from Smith’s Construction Company for the surface treatment of Panmure Road
- Quotation of $13,340.25 from Jara Sweeping/1043084 Ontario Inc. for the street sweeping of roads in Mississippi Mills.

The Spring Leaf and Yard Waste collection pick up in mid-May will go ahead again this year.

The Mississippi Mills Wastewater Treatment Facility – 2008 Annual Report was accepted.

Council approved the conceptual plans for the Almonte & District Community Centre renovations and approved the design phase.

The 2009 budget was approved with a 0% tax rate increase.

2009 water and sewer rates will increase by 6.25%
