Almonte’s annual tribute to the Easter Bunny, now in its third year, has some added features this year. The Bunny’s friends who run businesses downtown will introduce a new kids colouring component during the March break, prior to the usual Eggscapade contest on Mill Street.

Unravelled: The colourful decline of the Appleton textile mill

The Appleton textile mill was the last operational textile mill in Mississippi Mills. It produced colourful, synthetic knits and fleece on a spectacular site overlooking the Mississippi River. There will be an exhibit of photographs and artifacts of the mill at the Mississippi Valley Textile Museum (MVTM), March 6th to April 4th, 2010.

Parents have to be vigilant with their children about staying away from running water and thin ice. Each year in the province we witness tragedies of young people going through the ice or being swept away in fast moving water.
