Facility Operator (part-time seasonal)

The hourly range for the Recreation Facility/Arena Operator (Part-Time seasonal) is a five step pay scale between $21.65/hour -$24.49/hour.

2018 Summer Student Employment

The following summer student positions are available for the Municipality of Mississippi Mills for the 2018 summer season: 

Mississippi Mills Public Library - Up to 4 positions as follows:

In the Almonte Branch, up to 2 Summer Program Co-leaders ($15.03 per hour) responsible for planning and implementing summer programming.

In the Pakenham Branch, up to 1 Summer Program Leader ($15.03 per hour), responsible for planning and implementing summer programming and up to 1 Library/Program Assistant ($14.00 per hour) responsible for providing support to summer programming and support in basic library service, as needed. Positions are approximately 35 - 40 hrs a week, up to 10-12 weeks in duration contingent on funding. Applicants must be able to provide a vulnerable sector police check. Experience working with children preferred. Please clearly indicate the position(s) for which you are applying.

Engineering Summer Student - 1 position $16.71 per hour

The position is for 40 hours per week from May until August, 2018. 

Duties include: Gathering electronic data for inclusion in the municipal GIS system, collecting field inventory and condition assessment information relating to infrastructure assets, implementing the traffic count program, general inspection duties, preparing project summary reports, assisting with other duties, including flagging and maintenance.

 Public Works Assistant Summer Student - 1 position $14.00 per hour

The position is for 35 hours per week from May until August, 2018.

Duties include: whipper-snipping, debris and litter collection, cold patching, fire hydrant maintenance - colour code and paint, hanging flower baskets and planter maintenance, traffic control person on road jobs and assisting with other duties as required.  Must be available to work during the evening/weekends for festivals and special events as required.

Almonte Daycare Centre 

Summer Camp Councillors - Two (2) positions $14.00 per hour; one from May 7, 2018 and one from June 18, 2018 and both to August 31, 2018. Duties include assisting the Camp Coordinator with the planning and implementation of the Mississippi Mills Summer Camp, daily supervision of children 4-12 years of age, planning field trips, organizing sporting activities, community involvement projects, etc. while following program policies and procedures and maintaining a safe environment under the directed supervision of a Registered Early Childhood Educator.

Successful candidate must produce a Vulnerable Sector Reference Check! Preference will be given to candidates enrolled in the Field of Early Childhood Education.

Recreation Facilities Labourer - 2 positions  $14.00 per hour. Duties include:  performing maintenance and janitorial duties and necessary repairs associated with all recreation building facilities, structures, parks and playing fields and includes reporting major breakdowns and repairs to the Working Facility Foreman, setting up and cleaning up for all hall and ice surface rentals, programs and special events, preparing outdoor sport facilities for daily usage including all those duties deemed essential for the daily operations of the facilities

We're looking for energetic, engaging go-getters who are as proud of Mississippi Mills as we are. Ideal candidates have experience and/or education in tourism, special events, marketing, public relations, social media, business or all of the above. Duties will include managing the Tourism office, activating the Municipality's social media, promoting Mississippi Mills at community events, and coordinating aspects of municipal summer events. Interested applicants must have completed high school and be enrolled in college or university for fall 2018. Current high school students will not be considered for this position.

Beautification Maintenance Students - Three (3) positions  $14.00 per hour

We're looking for energetic, detail oriented students who are prepared to roll up their sleeves and get dirty this summer. Do you have a passion for the environment and thrive in the outdoors? Responsible students are required to assist in beautification and maintenance activities throughout the Municipality from May to August. Experience or education in landscaping, gardening, horticulture or general maintenance would be considered a strong asset.

One (1) student, with business/public administration or political science background, to assist with the development of policies and procedures; review and maintain centralized records management systems; and provide administrative support in legislative services.
