If there is a change in my neighbourhood will I be notified?

When ever there is a development proposal that requires a Severance, Plan of Subdivision, Minor Variance, Zoning Amendment, or Official Plan Amendment the Planning Act requires that all property owners within a specific distance of the property be notified. For severances and minor variances the notification distance is 60 metres. For subdivisions, zoning and official plan amendments, the notification distance is 120 metres. In some cases when the changes are significant and impact the entire community, notification will be placed in the newspaper.

Generally, there is no notification if there is a site plan application for a building permit application which conform to the zoning by-law regulations.
