Waste Management
Waste Collection includes the administration of a solid waste collection and disposal system. Presently the department administers and monitors 3 landfill sites in Mississippi Mills. These include the former Ramsay Landfill site (closed), Pakenham Landfill Site (Recycling Transfer Station) and the Landfill on Howie Road (Waste & Recyclables).

Will my compost smell?

A compost pile that is working well should not have an unpleasant odour. If it does, it may be that the materials are too wet or compacted. Turn the pile to let it dry out, or add dry materials such as leaves.
